How to Defeat Maylene in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl find here – Whether it’s a Gym Leader or a member of the Elite Four, every Pokemon game seems to have at least one renowned trainer that specialises on Fighting kinds. Both, on sometimes! Gym Leaders are in charge of gyms, and when you think of gyms, you generally think of physical activity and martial arts. Maylene, the owner of Veilstone City’s Gym, is one of these fitness experts.

This wouldn’t be a difficult fight if Maylene just had Fighting types, but the dual typing of Meditite and, especially, Lucario, can make things a little more problematic, especially since they both know the self-healing Drain Punch.

First and foremost, you want natural counters to Fighting kinds, not merely to exploit type vulnerabilities, but also to reduce the amount of damage caused by any Fighting attacks. I’m referring to Fairy, Psychic, and Flying sorts.

You can gain some diversity because you can carry six Pokemon vs Maylene’s three, and that’s an advantage you’ll want to use. Maylene’s Pokemon should ideally be one-shotted, since if you give her an opportunity, she’ll use one of her two Hyper Potions to heal them and stretch the fight out.

I’d choose a Flying type like Starraptor to oppose Meditite. Its Psychic vulnerability is mitigated by its dual Fighting/Psychic type, but because its sole true attack is Drain Punch, you can deal with it rather easy if you have something sturdy and Fighting resistant.

Switching to a Psychic type like Kadabra or Psyduck for Machoke is a good idea.

Keeping the Flying type in is a dangerous move, as they are vulnerable to Machoke’s Rock Tomb. Granted, Machoke’s Knock Off poses a little threat, but if you can one-shot it with a Psybeam, it’s a moot matter.

Finally, instead of employing a Fighting type like Ponyta or Monferno with Lucario, I’d prefer using a Fire type like Ponyta or Monferno. Even though Lucario is a tough Pokemon, a basic Fire move like Ember should be able to dispatch it in no time. Plus, none of Lucario’s attacks are weak against Fire types, so it won’t be able to do anything to stop you.
